You won’t need planning permission for your Basebox garden pod because it complies with your permitted development rights, removing the need for approval. Because of this, it helps keep our garden pods cost-effective, meaning you save money, time and hassle during the entire process.
Most of the time, it’ll be determined by the location of your Basebox. Suppose you live in a flat, maisonette, listed building or site designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI); in that case, you must apply for and receive planning permission, but we can assist with the application process. If you live in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) or Conservation areas, you could face restrictions on the placement of your Basebox; however, this won’t affect your ability to have one.
Basebox is purposely designed in compliance with your permitted development rights. Your local council will allow the installation of any outbuilding, providing they are under 2.5m in height externally (or under 3m in height if 2m away from your boundary).

If you're concerned that your neighbours might have objections to your garden pod, you can obtain a 'Lawful Development Certificate (LDC)' to provide evidence your garden building is a legal extension to your property.
Generally, a garden pod can be installed in any location in the rear and side gardens as long as they don't exceed the front of your property.
When purchasing a garden pod, it is important to note that any outbuilding cannot exceed 50% of the total area of your garden.
Because our garden pods fall under your permitted development rights, you don't need proof of planning permission; this means you can have a Basebox without going through the planning permission application process.
For those residing on Greenbelt land, fret not! This does not infringe on your permitted development rights. In general, you won't require planning permission to construct your garden pod.
Should you require technical drawings, Basebox can provide this for an additional £200 for CAD drawings on top of the deposit.
